Matt Zeller AC '00AC Alum Speaks on Campus After Making International News

AC alum Matt Zeller ‘00 and friend Janis Shinwari made international news after Matt’s years of effort to secure a visa for Janis, who served as his interpreter in Afghanistan while Matt served in the US Army.

The two were kind enough to share their incredible story in a talk called “Leave No One Behind: A Tale of Brotherhood” with students during the day as well as with the community in the evening.

After graduating from Allendale Columbia School in 2000, Matt went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Hamilton College and Master’s Degrees in public administration and international relations from Syracuse University. He was deployed to Afghanistan in April 2008 and ran in the 2010 election in New York’s 29th Congressional District. In 2012, Matt was named an Adjunct Fellow of the American Security Project and a Fellow of the Truman National Security Project, in addition to authoring Watches Without Time, in which he recounted his experiences serving in Afghanistan.
