Amy has been a part of Allendale Columbia School’s Art Department since the fall of 2010 and serves as Director of AC’s Center for Creativity and Entrepreneurship. Amy holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Illustration, a Concentration in ASL, and a Master of Science Degree in Teaching Art from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
How did you decide to go into this line of work?
I taught dance from the time I was 14 until after college. There is something incredible about seeing a student light up when they understand something they didn’t before.
What’s the best part of working at Allendale Columbia?
The best part of my job is the freedom to create a curriculum with my students. I can learn from them just as they can learn from me. The flexibility of an open-ended classroom that is student-driven really challenges me as a teacher. That is an experience that I look forward to daily.
