Michelle began her career in Baltimore, Maryland teaching first grade students and moved on to faculty and leadership team roles in London, Hong Kong, and Germany. Most recently she was the Head of Lower School at the International School of Ulm in Germany. Michelle holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, both from the University of Notre Dame in Maryland.
What motivated you to seek a new job opportunity with Allendale Columbia?
I knew that I wanted to work with educators who are passionate about children and innovation in education. I started to work on a design of my own school and came across the AC website while researching schools. The next day I saw a post for this job and immediately applied.
If you were a kid again, what’s the first thing you would do?
I would climb my favorite tree which still stands tall in my parents’ back yard. Then I would gather all of my friends and family and have a BBQ in the same spot.
What book are you reading right now?
I always find myself in the middle of 5-6 books at a time! My favorite, at the moment, is Kids Deserve It! Pushing Boundaries and Challenging Conventional Thinking, by Todd Nesloney & Adam Welcome.
Tell us something about you that would surprise most people?
I am a five-time gold medalist in a sport that originated in Hong Kong.
