This was an exciting month for AC — we published our first issue of Research & Discovery: AC's Journal of Student Inquiry! “We are so excited that we have the opportunity to share student work in STEM at the same level as scientific professionals,” said Maya Crosby, Director of the Invent Center for STEM & Innovation at AC. “Mr. Godkin and his students have done amazing work!” (Link in bio to read more!)

AC IN THE NEWS - Yesterday News Channel 8 featured our Food Service program as yet another example of how AC is leading the way in our larger community. AC offers seven entrees, four of which are vegetarian and two vegan, to our students, faculty, and staff daily. Most of our food is locally sourced and prepared on site.

It’s that time of year again— time for AC’s pumpkin chocolate chip cookies!

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup shortening
2 cups white sugar
2 eggs
2 t vanilla extract
1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin puree or fresh pumpkin (boiled and pureed)
4 cups flour
1 ½ t baking soda
1 ½ t baking powder
1 t salt
1 t cinnamon
1 cup chocolate chips

DIRECTIONS:
1. Preheat oven to 375’. Grease cookie sheets.
2. In large bowl cream together shortening and white sugar.  Beat in eggs.  Stir in pumpkin and vanilla until well blended.  In separate bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Add to pumpkin mixture and blend.  Stir in chocolate chips.  Drop by rounded teaspoon onto prepared cookie sheets.
3. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until edges begin to brown.

NEW FACES, NEW PLACES - Get to know AC Director of Maintenance and Facilities Tyler Johnson. Tyler joins AC from his most recent role as Property Manager for the Girl Scouts of Western New York, where he was responsible for two properties totaling 100 acres. He is a dedicated property manager and HVAC professional with eleven years of experience fulfilling a broad range of needs. His previous work experience also includes nine years at East Irondequoit Central School District and ten years volunteering with the Penfield Fire Company. Tyler earned a bachelor’s in Organizational Management from Roberts Wesleyan College and holds an associate’s degree in Fire Protection Technology from Monroe Community College.
