AC’s traditional Senior Breakfast will be held on campus on Wednesday, October 9th. The Senior Breakfast allows students to look forward to the year and focus on the legacy the Class of 2025 leaves behind.

UPPER SCHOOL CLASSES ARE CANCELED on Wednesday, October 16th, and students in grades 9-12 will be engaged in grade-level activities and/or college testing: -9th graders will engage in a community-building exercise. Students will be free to stay for lunch (12:45 p.m.) or sign out with permission. -10th and 11th graders will take the PreACT and PSAT/NMSQT respectively. The test includes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes of actual testing time, in addition to one hour for breaks and administrative tasks. Students should come prepared with #2 pencils, an approved calculator with fresh batteries and snacks and water (no nuts!) Testing will run from 8:10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.; students may stay for lunch (12:45 p.m.) or sign out with permission. -12th graders either pre-registered to take the SAT School Day on campus or are working on their college applications at home. Students who are testing should come prepared with #2 pencils, an approved calculator with fresh batteries and snacks and water (no nuts!). Testing will run from 8:10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.; students may stay for lunch (12:45 p.m.) or sign out with permission.
The 9th grade will be off-campus at Channing H. Philbrick Park participating in team-building activities while grades 10-12 take college entrance exams. After they return, the 9th grade will enjoy donuts and hot chocolate and then they may be excused to be pick-up early with a permission slip, or stay to eat lunch.
This field trip will take art students to photograph reference images at the Rochester Public Market, and then to view a landscape exhibit at More Fire Glass.
Our first unit of inquiry revolves around community. We are looking forward to connecting with local farmers and our very own AC upper schoolers who are going to the market the same day for photography.

This heartwarming Disney movie, set in Colombia, beautifully highlights the importance of family, resilience, and embracing our unique gifts—values deeply rooted in Hispanic heritage. "Encanto" is not only a captivating story for all ages but also a meaningful way to reflect on the cultural contributions of Hispanic and Latinx communities. Coming together as a school community for this event allows us to honor and celebrate the diverse cultures that shape our world. It’s an opportunity for families to enjoy an evening of entertainment, connection, and learning, while deepening our appreciation for the vibrancy of Hispanic heritage. We invite you to bring your loved ones, relax, and enjoy this magical film with us! Snacks will be provided, and everyone is welcome.

The Brighton Fire Department is coming to Allendale Columbia to visit some of our littlest friends. AC3s and Pre-K will get a chance to experience a fire truck up close and learn more about fire safety!
Kindergarten is off to Ganondagan to explore other cultures, how communities before us lived, and to connect with our land acknowledgement that we say every week in the kinder classroom. Our students will gain deeper understanding and respect for the Haudenosaunee people from learning about their experiences first hand!
Performance ensembles in the Middle and Upper School will delight the AC community with musical selections from their first-semester repertoire. Attire for performers is All-black professional attire (dress or skirt, pants, shirt, etc., not to include jeans, t-shirts, or sneakers), with optional addition of an accent color for each concert (scarf, tie, socks, headband, necklace, etc. - be creative!). Arrival time for performers is 6:30. All are welcome!

Once a month the Nursery and Pre-K students wear a specific color or pattern as they learn about different colors, shapes and patterns in their classrooms. Please join us in helping our youngest students celebrate the color or pattern of the month and wear what's specified in the calendar listing above!
